Pools, fitness centers, and parking are some of the most popular amenities when it comes to apartment communities. But that’s often not enough: 67 percent of US households own a pet, so having a pet-friendly policy in an apartment community is essential for many renters.

We love our furry friends and believe they make life better and happier. Here’s what you need to know about pet ownership and our apartment community.

Health Benefits

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people who have a pet in their lives reap many health benefits. For starters, pet owners have lower blood pressure as well as decreased cholesterol and triglyceride levels. They have more opportunities to exercise, because who can say no to a cute dog who needs a walk? They also have better mental health, with less loneliness.

Pet ownership also comes with lower stress levels, less risk of cardiovascular disease, and lower heart rates, according to the WALTHAN Petcare Science Institute.

Inside Our Community

Having a pet makes people healthier and happier, so it makes sense to look for an apartment with a pet-friendly policy. At The Courtyards & Tierra Palms Apartment Homes, we allow a variety of furry and non-furry pets. However, they must weigh less than 50 pounds fully grown and not fall under our restricted breed list. We also need to see records for immunizations and licensing, as well as pictures prior to move-in.

Not only is there space to walk your pets around our apartment community, but we offer a dog park for residents as well. There, you can meet your pet-owning neighbors while your dog socializes, too.

Nearby Pet-friendly Amenities

In addition to our dog park, the Norwalk area boasts a variety of pet-friendly places, including the San Gabriel River Trail and Home Run Dog Park. According to BringFido, there also are four restaurants in Norwalk that allow dogs at their outdoor tables.

With about two-thirds of US households having a pet, many apartment communities boast pet-friendly policies. However, before you adopt a pet, look into the benefits, your complex’s policies, and nearby amenities.
